Twilight premiered at Westwood Village, Los Angeles on November 17th 2008. Attended by thousands of fans and high-profile actors such as Kim Basinger and Jamie Foxx, Stephanie Meyer's first book looks like it will be a huge box-office success. The after party took place at the Armand Hammer museum.
Story
Twilight follows the story of the romance between a human girl and a century-old vampire, following the story of its titular book. It follows Bella's adventure of a lifetime as she is pulled into fantastical events by her romance with Edward.
Takings
The film was directed by Catherine Hardwicke (of Thirteen fame), and sold over $7 million in midnight showings alone on its opening night, November 21st 2008. As of April 2009, the film has made $191 million in the United States, and another $188 million internationally.
