How does a human become a vampire?

To be turned into a vampire, a human must be injected (either with the vampire's teeth or through other means) with its venom. If the venom is injected directly into the heart, the process takes around two days to complete.

What is venom?

Venom is the pervasive bodily fluid in a vampire. Throughout a vampire's physiology there are variations which maintain a similarity to the fluid they replaced; for instance the eyes are lubricated by a venom replacement to tears. These varied fluids are not capable of turning a human, however; the venom residing in the mouth is the only variety potent enough.

Why do vampires sparkle in the sunlight?

Vampires sparkle in the sunlight due to the extent their bodies change in turning. The skin hardens to an unbreakable crystalline structure which becomes reflective in bright light.

Edward and Bella do not "french" kiss; their kisses remain fairly chaste, but in order for a human to turn to vampire, the venom must be injected directly into the bloodstream.
