Victoria, still intent on killing Bella, has created an army of “newborn” vampires in the nearby city of Seattle. Because she has another vampire in charge of the army, Edward’s sister Alice can’t use her gift of seeing the future to predict what’s happening or who to see who is behind this army; thus allowing it to go unnoticed by the Cullen family. Meanwhile, Bella is battling her own emotions as she is forced to choose between her relationship with Edward, and her close friendship with Jacob. Once the Cullens discover that Victoria is behind the “newborn” army and they realize her intent, the vampires and Jacob’s werewolf pack join together to protect Bella and destroy Victoria and her army. Edward has asked Bella to marry him and she has agreed, but because she didn’t want to have Jacob’s mind on anything but the battle with Victoria’s army, she didn’t tell him of her engagement, resulting in an argument when he finds out. After the Cullens and the werewolves successfully kill Victoria and her army, the Volturi arrive to find that Bella is still not a vampire and Bella tells them that she plans to make the transformation after graduation.
